WELCOME TO CAN BESCUYT

Can Bescuyt is our home in Mallorca, 2km from the market town of Alaro situated at the foothills of the beautiful Serra de Tramuntana Mountain Range, a Unesco World Heritage Site. The house, an old Finca, has been in our family for over 50 years. Passing through 2 generations it has been gradually restored, extended, sympathetically modernised and organically renovated throughout to create what we now think of as a rather special place. Set up very much for family living it’s quirky, it’s beautiful and we absolutely love it.

Can Bescuyt is not a standard holiday rental but a genuine family home providing the experience of country living in Mallorca. We have compiled this website only to tentatively open up our home through word of mouth, both to stay in or to explore the possibility of doing a house swap. 

The house reflects the different stages of our family who have grown up holidaying here. There is a wide collection of children's books, games, bikes and sports equipment suitable for various ages, all to be used and enjoyed. Cooking, wine and food are a huge part of our Mallorcan life and we have a large collection of cookbooks and cooking equipment, ranging from an outdoor pizza oven to an ice cream maker. There are fruit trees, a herb garden and vegetable patch, all overseen by Toni who has looked after the house since our family first bought it. The house comprises 6 double bedrooms split across 3 floors, 2 sitting rooms, a large kitchen/dining room, prep kitchen and 4 bathrooms, while outside by the pool there are sun loungers and a covered outdoor dining table that overlooks the countryside. Tucked inside the well established garden is a swing chair, quiet sitting areas and an outdoor shower.

There's an earthiness to Can Bescuyt that comes from years of family use. Our plates may not all be matching, the linen on the sofas is vintage and much of our furniture was found at local markets. For us, it’s a constant work in progress, a labour of love that’ll never really be finished, but it is also a sanctuary, and comfortable and well loved home.
